The detachment has a Color Guard that presents colors at social events, celebrations, sporting events, church services and veterans events. The Marine Corps Color Guard is a polished detail that emulate the high standards and traditions of the Marine Corps.

With great pride in the United States, the American Flag and the beloved Marine Corps, the Color Guard detail of the Smoky Mountain Detachment provide a high quality service to the community. With attention to detail and crisp, precise movements and sharp uniforms, the detail sets a high standard when presenting the American flag to the public.

The detachment also has an Honorary Burial Detail. Also crisp and highly professional, the detail consists of the Color Guard, a three man rifle detail firing a three shot volley, the playing of Taps, and Flag presentation to the family.
